This website is an expansion to my personal photoblog which you can find on www.apocalyps.ca. Here, I will share with you simple techniques on how to recreate photo "tricks" that you have seen on my photoblog as well as the basics of photography. This is nowhere near completion so if you feel you have some content you would like to add here, email me at visionatstaticblur.com.

Capturing Droplets

A lot of amazing things happen all around us everyday, but they are either too small for us to notice or happen too quickly and we don't see them at all. This is something that happens too quickly.

To capture a droplet hitting any surface requires not only a well lit environment and a fast shutter speed, but also a quick finger and lot and lot of patience.

Rule of Thirds

A very basic but effective "rule" to follow is the rule of thirds. It is sometimes referred to as the rule of ninths because of the nine squares that are present when the frame is divided.

Imagine your photo divided into 9 equal parts using 2 vertical lines and 2 horizontal lines like in the image below.

Rule of Thirds

Placing the subject on any of the lines or intersections will produce images that are better balanced and more appealing to the eye.

Black and White

One cannot grasp all the concepts involved in color and digital photography without already understanding black and white photography. Black and white photography can be considered in many ways: something old-fashioned, a course you can take in high school to boost your mark, way to express yourself or as a great learning tool.
